product review....

I picked up the downy bar today at the schnucks. You stick it in your dryer, it resembles a bar of soap. It is supposed to last for 2 months. The price was 3.99.

Thanksgiving....

We had such a good Thanksgiving. We saw the entire family, including the Arkansas clan. We have so much to be thankful for. The family is in pretty good health. We have jobs and money to spare.

Hernando holiday open house....

Sunday I went to the Hernando open house. It was so very nice. There were refreshments at the stores. People singing Christmas carols at the depot and on the square. Most of the stores had discounts. The only problem was the crowds. But, I won't complain cause it is good for the economy. I picked up 2 ornaments. One with ole miss on it for me. One with a picture of hernando street. It was fun.

Germaphobe......

I think I am becoming a germaphobe. Because of this swine flu and regular flu killing people I am kindof scare. I got a pocket-size can of of lysol to put in my purse. I bought those decorative boxes of clorox wipes to put in the bathrooms. The funny thing is I probably will die from swine flu.

Anniversary.....

Happy 2nd anniversary to my hubby, Ronnie. We went to Gatlinburg, Tn and married in a little log cabin church. It was nothing fancy. Just me, hubby, and the preacher and one witness. I did not want to have a big wedding with all of the hassel. It was multiple marriages for both of us. The only regret I have is not having professional photographs taken. One of my goals (before Jacob leaves) is to get a family portrait of our family. I would like to do it before Christmas but we will have to see.

Now, I need to look for what I want for our anniversary. yippee.

gilmore girls....

I am a gilmore girl addict. I love gilmore girls so much. I watch at least one episode every night when I go to sleep, in fact the music is usually playing while I sleep. My purchases lately have been the coffee at Luke's book which I got on Amazon. It arrived today, so I have not been able to peruse it yet. I also bought the Gilmore Girls soundtrack, that features PJ Harvey, Bjork and many other artists. The music is different than what I listen to on a regular basis but very good.

The bbq last weekend was a blast. The ribs were delicious. Ronnie had cooked all day and night, poor thing, but everything was a success. We had a large time.

My nest is not as empty as it was. Jacob moved back in with us. He is on a short lease (and leash) lol. Seriously he is enlisting in the Air Force and will be leaving in Feburary at the latest. He is going tomorrow to sign up. I just wish him luck in all of his endeavours.(sp).
I might do some shopping tomorrow. I really want a cool picture to go over my bed. Of course, they messed up my curtains at JcPenny so I had to reorder them. Pictures to come when the room is finished.

bedroom....

I put my new comforter on my bed in our bedroom today. It looks so pretty. I am very excited about it. I gave the room a good cleaning and then placed it on the bed. I have to buy some new pictures, a new chair, some items to sit on my dresser. I am so very excited. I will post pictures as soon as I get the room finished.

Dollar General....

I stopped by the new dollar general store in horn lake today. We have been making fun of the store because there are NO cool places in Horn Lake. I really do not like living here and count the days until we can move. I am figuring we have to live here about 4 more years. We could sell before then but I think we can do better selling the house then. It will also give us time to save up for a down payment. Anyhoo, the new dollar general store is cool. I only got a candle and toilet paper but I will head back in there for some "shopping".

Bedroom....

I have wanted to redecorate my bedroom for a long time. I was never pleased with my last comforter purchase. I have been looking for the perfect comforter set for the bedroom. Yesterday I found it at JC Penney's. It is a Cindy Crawford collection comfort and pillow set. It is primarily red with flowers on it. It is so beautiful. Now, I have to find some new pictures to go on the walls. After my meeting on Tuesday, I am going to Michael's to purchase some items to make either a wreath or flower arrangement for the bedroom. I can usually do a good job with this but I think I have been depressed so I haven't cared much for decorating in a while.

I feel more like myself so decorating my house to look pretty is on my agenda. My mama loved to decorate. I miss her so much and it almost has been unbearable to go on. I will continue to honor her memory by living the best life I can.

I had been planning on going to church this morning. When I got home last night I felt horrible. I had the chills and was very sick at my stomach. It certainly was not alcohol because I only drank 2 beers. Anyway, I ended up throwing up and staying up all night sick. I guess I will try to go next week.

Love it.......

I am not a huge fan of Dooney and Bourke bags but this particular bag caught my eye. I thought it was so cute. The prices at Dillard's were pretty reasonable. I might have to head up there this weekend. I hate Jill doesn't work there anymore and I could get her discount.

New York city......

The trip to NYC was one of the best trips ever. Kim, Virginia, Pam and myself flew out of Memphis at 6am on Sunday morning. We had a layover flight in Atlanta making the entire trip in about 5 hours. When we arrived at LaGaurdia airport in New York we caught a shuttle to our airport. We stayed at the Windham by Wingate on 35th street between 7th and 8th avenue.

On Sunday, we decided to head out and do some walking. We walked and found time square, we totally walked our legs off and ended up at Radio City music hall outside the VMA's (video music awards). We saw Pink arrive on a fire truck, too cool. We then saw Taylor Swift and Adam Lambert from american idol arrive in a horse drawn carriage similiar to Cinderella. Taylor Swift ended up performing outside the radio city music hall. It was so cool.

On Monday morning, we headed to the Today show and arrived at 6am. We were lucky enough to be on the "line" . We were filmed at least 2 times. I taped the show and got a huge kick out of it and I thought I looked pretty good. We met Natalie Morales, Ann Curry and Al Roker. I even got his autograph.

After the show we headed out to do some sight-seeing. We went to the top of the Roc that shows a view of the city from the top of the Rockefeller building. Personally this was not my favorite event. We then went on a 5 hour guided tour that included seeing the empire state building, John Lennon's house and the strawberry park. We went to staten island were on a ferry where we got wonderful pictures of the Statue of liberty. We also visited ground zero. It was worth the money.

Tuesday was shopping day. We started the day by heading to Chinatown via the subway. The subway was not that bad, it just was confusing. Chinatown is a sight to behold. You are standing in the street a a little china woman comes up to you and announces "louis vuitton, chanel handbag" if you nod then you follow this woman into the back of a store where there are dozens of knock off hand bags. Of course, it is illegal to sell knock offs. Then the fun part begins, you negotiate with them. I bought a juicy couture for Kelcy and a coach for Brooke, that I lost. We then went to Little Italy where we experienced some wonderful food. The were having the San Gennero (sp) festival. It was so much fun. Virginia and I headed to 5th avenue. We arrived pretty late so we did not get to do as much as anticipated. We went into Bergdoff Goodman, Louis Vuitton, Juicy Couture on 5th Avenue. Then we headed to Macy's, the biggest department store in the world. I could have spent hours and there (and thousands of dollars).

After a day of shopping we headed to a very fine steak house, then back to Times square. We did not go to bed at all the last night. We were exhausted.

The trip was a wonderful time. I wish I would have taken more money but I did not know I was going until a couple of weeks prior to the trip. But, I still had a wonderful time. Now is the time to travel because everything is so cheap. Hop on your nearest plane and take a trip.

Work....work...work....

I will not be posting probably this week cause I work the next four days 10 + hours. Looking forward to the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday.

Gordmans......

Gordman's has the best selection for cute outdoor decorations. The value is unbelievable. I love to take a coupon that I get in the mail and save 25%. Today, I purchased a cute little trio of bears to put in my flower bed. The price was orginally $30 but I ended up getting it for $12 cha-ching.
They are also putting out the fall decor. I love the fall so much. The fall colors, pumpkins, gourds and all of the Halloween decor. I was married on Halloween so it is obviously one of my favorite holidays.

I'm going to New York City.......

September 13th Pam, Kim, Virginia and myself are heading to New York. The trip was originally planned to see Lauren Graham in guys and dolls. We were also taking Autumn and Kelcy and they wanted to see Aerosmith. Well, both shows have been cancelled. I've seen Aerosmith before but I was so disappointed to find out I would not get to see Lauren Graham.

We will be sightseeing. The statue of liberty, China town, Little Italy and Madison square gardens. Oh, We will be shopping on 5th avenue. We also, plan to do a little 'clubbing'. I am really looking forward to having a "girls trip".

Please, please, please, please,

Let the planets align or my gaurdian angel Brenda or something go my way. I really really, really want this. I need good vibes.

OOOOPS....

Rachel Zoe starts next week, how disappointing.

Rachel Zoe......

Tomorrow is the season premiere of the Rachel Zoe project on Bravo tv. She is a celebrity stylist. She chooses outfits for the stars that are attending the oscars, grammys and other events. Let face it "I hate her" for having such a wonderful life. Can you imagine getting paid for shopping? Designers sending over thier clothes for you to look at and choose for this celebrity to wear. Seriously though, I really do like her and really love her book A to Zoe. She states in the book that you should always base your clothes first on accessories. I am a huge accessory girl. I don't necessarily need expensive accessories just unusual ones. Make sure you tune in tomorrow for the season premiere.

Change in plans......

I am dyslexic sometimes. I read things backwards, actually a friend of mine told me it was because I have severe astigmatism. Anyway, I looked at the financial aid form wrong and did not send in my financial aid forms before the deadline so I did not get my money. I am really early for next year though. So I'm not going to school.

Hoping my brain can recall information from high school.....

I scheduled my GRE for August 3rd. Yesterday I went to books a million and puchased a prep book for the GRE. It is amazing the information you forget over the years. Because the test is a couple of weeks away my days off will be filled with studying, studying and oh, did I mention I need to study.

I love my new job. It is very fulfilling. I love the patients and the staff. But, I physically will not be able to pull this off for the rest of my life. My back is killing me, I can barely get out of the bed in the mornings.

My dream is to teach RN's at Northwest. I briefly taught LPN's until the government cancelled the program. :( I have to take a full load of classes this semester and then 2 classess the next semester. Hopefully I will be able to start the RN to MSN program in the summer. (fingers and toes crossed)

very excited....

This morning I had an appointment at a Rococo Salon here in Desoto County. My step-son's girlfriend has been there and gave it rave reviews. I made an appointment for a hair cut/style and a color consultation. Apparantly they strive to keep up to date on the new techniques of coloring. I did learn one thing about coloring. If you make your base color dark, then you cannot change your base color lighter. The way to get it lighter is to strip the base color off and start over. I did not know this. I have been dying my hair since I was about 24, I started graying at that time. Anyhoo, I'm gonna go back in a week or so to have my hair professionally done. I was so pleased with my hair today. Very, very pleased with Bobbie at Rococo Salon, job well done.

I then met my husband for lunch at Olive Garden. We had a very nice lunch. We pretended he was with a new woman (due to my hair). We had a large time. Then I went to start my hunt for perfect bedroom decor. I had a great great day.

Drop dead diva.......

I realize yall probably think this is a post about my fabulous self, but this is a tv show review. ~smile~ Lifetime premiered drop dead diva on Sunday night. The premise is that a shallow very thin model that is killed in a car crash. After her demise she enters the place of which will decide if she is to go to heaven or hell based on her good or bad deeds. She is so shallow she has not been bad or good, she just focused on herself. She is then sent back to earth, but in the body of a size 16 lawyer with low self esteem.

The storyline is very cute. I think the actors are very talented. This country is obsessed with outer beauty and "size 2" bodies. Hopefully, this tv show will inspire non size 2 girls to be thier true selves.

Two thumbs up.

Dreams......

Dreaming is what keeps us alive. I feel alot has been taken from me but noone can take away my dreams. I want to go to new york so bad, in fact, I wanted to go to new york and supermodel. My friends and I are heading to New York to see Aerosmith, Guys and Dolls and shopping. Kenny Chesney might be there as well, what can I say he heard we were going and wanted to see us. ~smile~

Finally a turnaround.....

Yesterday was a wonderful day (except for the loss of my best friend's dad). My previous boss Margaret called me and asked if I wanted to come back to work there. My response was "more than anything". She will work with me while I go to back to school. Finally, something is going my way. I am SURE things in every aspect of my life will be looking up in the next few weeks.

Heat......

I absolutely hate the heat. The funny thing is that I have lived in the deep south my whole life. Mississippi to be exact. My birthday is July 3rd. I am literally a firecracker baby. I cannot stand to be hot. I become very ill when I am hot. Now, that being said, if I was sitting on a deck at the lake it would be a different story. I absolutely love the lake. I love to be on a boat with a cold drink and looking at the water. Oh, well I can always dream.

Just crappy......

The year 2009 has basically been crappy for me all the way around. Losing my job in December and then one disappointment after another. I am trying to think of good things that have happened this year. 1. The ac/dc concert 2. the trip to St Louis. I think this year can compare the the year 2004 which totally sucked in every area.

Coupons......

I have been very fortunate to have a pretty good job for a long time. I am not rich but I get pretty much anything I want. Until I lost my job in December and it took me several months to find a new job.

Due to my current financial situation (which is pretty much caught up). I have been clipping coupons. I am not one of those people that can go to the grocery store and spend 15 dollars for 100 worth of groceries. But I am now enjoying clipping the coupon for resturants such as chili's that says "5 dollars off your bill". I can take that $5 I have saved and put it toward the tip - I try to overtip when I can.

Today I went into a little boutique and had a 10% coupon off. I picked up some precious little barettes. Had I not had that coupon I would have not went into this particular boutique and it has such charming items. I was on the way to the doctor so I did not have alot of time to peruse.

I guess everyone is trying to cut back. At least I am trying to be smarter about my money.

Wonderful vacation......

I love going on weekend trips. This past weekend we went to six flags. We rented a stow and go van that was super nice. A whole group of us went. The attendees were Ronnie, Pam, Autumn, Kelcy, Robin, Brooke, Jacob, Jill, Hailey, Caleb, Makinlea and myself. We spent the entire day Saturday at six flags. My calf muscles were killing me at the end of the trip.

On Sunday we ventured to Grant's farm in the morning. I love Grant's farm so much - you begin by getting on the tram and riding around the property. There are animals that are wondering around the property. I have lots of cool pictures of the family and animals.

I had to work on Monday and Tuesday so I have pretty much slept and layed around the house. I am exhausted.

Barack Obama......

I have always been a republican. I was raised republican and have always voted for republican president's. Until now, I really do like our president. He seems to be sincere in helping this country get back on it's feet. I love looking at pictures of him in the white house that can be found on http://www.whitehouse.gov/ . I guess he just seems real. I hope he will do good things for this country. A strange observation I have made is that alot of "white republicans" I have been in contact with think that he is doing a good job. Despite partisianship, the concensus is that he is trying to do the best for our country.

Nurse educator......

I have wanted to be a nurse educator for as long as I have been a nurse. I was a LPN instructor for almost 1 year and loved it. The only reason I left the job is because the state cut the program. It was cut due to poor performance prior to my tenure.

I only need 4 classes before I can start the BSN program. I can teach RN's while I am in the Master's program, post BSN.

I have been a nurse for so long I think it is time to do what I really love - teach. I do not want to perform direct patient care for my whole life. Now if I can keep the motivation for this.

New job....

I am very happy with my new job. I am working in the Emergency room in Clarksdale, MS. I worked there for about seven years ago for about four years. For the most part, all of the people are cool. There is a good mix of young and old, men and women. I was really nervous going back to work in the ER but I have remembered most of the skills. Clarksdale is a great place to learn. There is no other hospital nearby so this ER sees alot of trauma. It is in the Delta so the people are sick. I love Clarksdale, it is cool.

Just call me Martha Stewart......

As I am currently unemployed I have decided to try to eat at home more. One cheap meal that was on sale was fish sticks. So tonight I fixed fish sticks, french fries and hushpuppies. I ordinarily would bake the FF but I decided since I have hushpuppies I would fry the french fries. To my dismay, I did not have any tartar sauce. I happily googled it and voila' there was the recipe. I tweeked it to my liking and it was delicious. I would have taken a picture of it but I threw my cord away for the computer.

Pearl procedure continues....

What is Pearl?
Pearl is the “one laser to choose” to renew your skin’s surface with quick, visible results. Pearl treats fine lines on the face and neck, uneven skin texture and light & dark spots caused by sun damage.

I am one week post Pearl procedure. I have not experienced any discomfort since the procedure. I just still look a little sunburned. I have noticed a remarkable decrease in the little fine lines on my forehead. The pores on my face are much smaller. I still do not like not wearing makeup but beauty is pain.

Today I went to see confessions of a shopaholic. The movie is real cute. Isla Fisher is beautiful.

Pearl procedure.....

Today I had the pearl procedure done on my face. It basically burns the top layer of your skin off and helps create brand new skin. Right now my face looks very burned. I will be unable to wear make up for 2 weeks. It will be kindof hard no to wear make up for the next two weeks. And I am right in the middle of job interviews but I have explained to my potential employers what is going on. My doctor offered the procedure for 40% off that is why I did it at this point in time.

New blog.....

I will be working on this blog. I will be a peep into my life and the things I love. Please excuse the format so far because I have to "perk" it up.
